The soluble organic fractions in diesel exhaust particulates were classified into organic bases,organic acids,aliphatic compounds,aromatic compounds,moderately polar neutral compounds and highly polar neutral compounds by silica gel column chromatography and chemical methods,and the percentage of these organic compunds and the recovery of soluble organic fractions were measured.
